VIMFF is an annual international 10-day community festival, featuring mountain film screenings, live multimedia presentations, photography exhibitions, workshops, seminars & other special events. VIMFF is also a travelling show with awarded films, visiting 50+ communities across Canada, the US, Europe and Asia each year, and offering additional 5-day Speaker Series program every Fall in North Vancouver & Vancouver.

Adventure Writing Workshop with Frank Wolf

Author and feature writer Frank Wolf will share tips and ideas from his 20 years of adventure writing experience.
Frank Wolf is a Canadian adventurer, writer, photographer, and environmentalist. He is known for feature magazine articles and films that document wilderness expeditions around the world, with a focus on the Canadian North. His journeys include being the first to canoe across Canada in one season, and cycling 2,000 km in winter on the Yukon River from Dawson to Nome. He was named One of Canada’s Top 100 Explorers by Canadian Geographic Magazine and one of Canada’s Top Ten Adventurers by Explore Magazine.

Cultural teachings from Wa’xaid (Cecil Paul) as told by his daughter Cecelia Reekie and author Briony Penn.
Who better to tell the narrative of our times about the restoration of land and culture than Wa’xaid (the good river), or Cecil Paul, a Xenaksiala elder who pursued both in his ancestral home, the Kitlope – now the largest protected unlogged temperate rainforest left on the planet. Join Wa’xaid’s daughter Cecelia Reekie and author and annotator Briony Penn who meticulously transcribes Wa’xaid’s stories and teachings in her book – Stories from the Magic Canoe of Wa’xaid.

Daniel Fox’s official title is A.P.E.2 (Artist/Author, Photographer/Philosopher, Explorer/Entrepreneur). Besides the obvious genealogy lineage, he is a Lexus Ambassador, Fujifilm X-Photographer, Sandisk Extreme Team member & Manfrotto photographer, and the author of FEEL THE WILD (an intimate and powerful story about Nature and our relationship with it, told through stunning photography and thought-provoking writing).

Harrison Crerar grew up exploring the trails, creeks, and mountains of his hometown, North Vancouver. With 3 younger siblings, he has lots of experience hiking with kids of all ages on many different trails. With David Crerar and Bill Maurer, he is the co-author of The Glorious Mountains of Vancouver’s North Shore (2018).
