Sonja Swift investigates the contours of place as land, home, language, memory, and identity. Writing is her artistic medium and also the practice of making a mind that is coherent and adept at dealing with complexity. Her work has appeared in Dark Matter: Women WitnessingLangscape Magazine; Rock and Sling; The Ravens Perch; Snapdragon: A Journal of Art and Healing; Pigeonholes; Catamaran Literary Reader; Virga magazine; Kestrel: A Journal of Art and Literature; and Barren Magazine. She is also the author of Alphabet Atlas; the anthology Fire and Rain; and Tarot of Transformation. Sonja has an MFA in writing from California College of the Arts. Together with her husband and son, she calls both the central coast of California and the Black Hills of South Dakota home.
